The Hartford Courant was founded by Thomas Green in 1764 in Hartford, Connecticut. Initially a weekly, it began appearing daily in 1837, launching a Sunday edition in 1913. One of the oldest continuously published newspapers in the United States, it has until recently been a staunch supporter of the
Republican Party.
