Columbus Enquirer merged with the city's first daily newspaper,
The Daily Sun, to become
The Columbus Enquirer-Sun in 1874. Between 1918 and 1929, it was edited by
Julian and Julia Collier Harris, whose efforts to combat racism and to support the teaching of evolution were recognized with the award of a
Pulitzer Prize in 1926. After merging with
The Columbus Ledger, the paper became
The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, the name under which it is currently published.
