Founded in 1772, the Morning Post had attracted contributions from Romantic luminaries such as William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Robert Southey,
and Charles Lamb before emerging as a rival to The Times by the 1850s. A conservative daily published in London, its editors included James Nicol Dunn (1897-1905), Spenser Wilkinson (1905), Fabian Ware
(1905-1911), and Howell Arthur Gwynne (1911-1937). The paper was absorbed by The Telegraph in 1937.
